Episode 24: El Segundo Challenge
Thursday Feb 18, 2021
Thursday Feb 18, 2021
Welcome to another episode of The Drink Local Podcast! It’s been about a year since we kicked off this podcast! For Episode 24 we’re proud to present the long-promised El Segundo Challenge. What’s that? Well, William has been mindlessly enjoying IPAs from El Segundo Brewing for quite some time before it finally occurred to him that maybe he should compare them, just to make sure that they aren’t all the same delicious beer. We get deep into it with their Tone Series. We start things off a little differently by taking Questions From The Beer-Curious right away and touch upon the California Craft Beer Festival that's going on. Unfortunately, we weren't able to get any of the special beers that we wanted including some from Original Pattern. You can read more about our visit to the Oakland brewery here.
Then, we finally talk The Good Lord Bird on our new Binge Drinking segment. In What Made You Wanna Drink, Misa laments the number of overtime games that the Los Angeles Lakers have been drawn into and William talks about the Black History Month Tribute that Oak Park Brewing Company is doing with three other California black-owned breweries (Hunters Point Brewery, Hella Coastal, and Full Circle Brewing Co.). Lastly, on a more serious note, William gets emotional while sharing some of his thoughts on the increased levels of violence impacting the Asian-American community.
The Beers:
Office with a View (IPA)
On the Horizon (IPA)
LA Showdown (IPA)
